November 17, 2015: Barney originally was born in Illinois, registered with the Illinois Trotting Association and had a short racing career. He retired into the life of an Amish horse, but unfortunately was used for not only pulling a buggy, but for hauling logs as well. This resulted in masses of muscles down both sides on his shoulders, visible until the end. As the personal horse of our Director and friend, Annette Fisher, Barney could not have asked for a better life. He shared a special soulful connection to Annette for over a decade and will be sorely missed, not only by Annette, but all of Happy Trails who knew and adored him.
