August 1, 2013: Late last night we received a call from Dixie’s foster home she was down most of the day (again) and was not getting up. Though the vet did get Dixie to stand for evaluation, the vet confirmed it was time to put the mare down. Dixie was having some major leg/tendon issues. She was developing sores on her ankles from her troubles in standing up. On top of this, the vet suspected neurological issues. We are grateful to her foster mom for caring for this great gal and loving her through the remainder of her life. Read Dixie’s tribute…
