October 7, 2016: Axel has thrived with us, gaining weight and running and frolicking with his herd friends. He is very old for a horse and at 36! Unfortunately, is inability to get to his feet has worsened and the possibility of bad injury and/or suffering has increased. It was decided as a group to let Axel go on a beautiful day, among friends and with love. We are grateful to have been able to provide him with recovery and happiness for his last months and he will be missed by all.
Axel came to us from a case of neglect in Springfield Township. He was accompanied by two hens. Living so close to the city and tucked in a field in a residential area, Axel had slowly deteriorated and lost his zest for life. He was rehabilitated with a re-feed program while his previous owner faced court proceedings.
