 Ziggy: A
10 year old Thoroughbred gelding, beautiful bay, tall (around 16
hands), former race horse and then worked as a hunter/jumper. He now
has some joint issues, moderate arthritis, and slight issues with
navicular. With corrective shoeing, he can still be comfortable as a
trail horse. Excellent manners, loves attention, very kind to work
with, just really, truly a good boy who deserves a loving home — his
foster home just loves him.

Chevaz
is a very handsome black 19 year old Standardbred gelding. Still
healthy and sound, Chevaz retired to Happy Trails through the Amish
Horse Retirement Program. He worked as a buggy horse his entire
life. His foster mom LOVES him, and says nothing but truly wonderful
things about his personality, how great he is to work with, and how
mannerly he is! Adoption Fee: $350.00 |

 Houston A 19 year old light bay
Arabian gelding, who had been diagnosed with Cushings Disease. Houston
has responded wonderfully to medication for Cushings, and is just a
love to work with. He is of smaller stature, about 14.2 hands, and has
a medium-sized rider weight limit of about 150lbs. He is capable of
handling some light riding — back yard or very light trail, and this
may fluctuate depending upon his medical condition. There may come a
point where he should not be ridden, but simply allowed to enjoy life
as a buddy for another horse. Houston has worked with Ken Aberegg,
professional equine trainer, and at this time should be great for an
advanced beginner. Houston enjoys attention and would love for someone
to dote on him and love him! He will need to be kept on medication
(Pergolide) indefinitely. Houston also had foundered due to Cushings,
though with his current style of trimming, does not wear shoes and he
is not lame in any way at this time — he appears to now be sound. Adoption Fee: $250.00

 Hurricane Jenny:
Jenny arrived at Happy Trails on Wednesday,
July 18th, through the Happy Trails Amish Horse Retirement program.
She is a beautiful 19 year old dark bay Standardbred mare who served
her Amish family as a buggy horse for the last nine years. Due to a
bad front leg, she can no longer do long buggy trips. This is
probably the sweetest mare ever, and she gets along fantastic with
ALL other horses. She is kind and polite and simply wonderful to
work around. She is going to make someone a truly wonderful family
pet, and has been ok'd by the vet to be ridden (at a walk only
please)

 Sophie
is a gorgeous 15 year old bay Standardbred mare who has been
recently returned to our program due to the death of her devoted
owner. Sophie has been treated like a queen during the last five
years during her adoption, and we hope to find someone who will
continue to love her and ride her and spend some quality time with
the beautiful mare. Sophie has had a great deal of Pat Parelli
ground training, and can be ridden with just a halter by an advanced
beginner. She is great with kids and loves to go on trails. Due to a
right-rear thick ankle, Sophie has some suspensory/ligament issues
and needs an average-sized rider. Her limitations would be that she
cannot handle constant work or excessive riding. Adoption Fee:
