Horses : Horses In Recovery

The horses in recovery are those that have been removed from a neglect situation and are currently unavailable for adoption. Sponsorships are available for the horses in recovery to help pay for their stay at Happy Trails while they convalesce.

Most of the horses, in recovery will be available for adoption eventually but some, due to health concerns, may never be able to be adopted.

About Zagato

This noble guy is about 200 lbs. underweight and has some type of issue going on with his hind quarters. He needs his teeth 'floated' (a term used to describe necessary equine dental procedure of filing a horse's teeth), he needed to be de-wormed, he will need vaccinated, and he will have his hooves trimmed this next week.  Dr. Holly Troche, our equine chiropractor, will be visiting Zagato soon to see what types of issues are going on with this spine and hind quarters. He is now on a re-feeding/rehabilitation program, where he is fed small amounts of grain at multiple intervals throughout the day to get his stomach used to receiving grain regularly. This sweet boy will be available for adoption as a Pasture Pal (non-ridable) pet after he is on the road to recovery.

Update:  Since having his teeth floated, Zagato seems to be flourishing.  He is spending time slowly gaining his weight back and has already regained a brighter look about him.  He is waiting for his home and the love he deserves.
