How To Adopt Feathered Friends

We are seeking homes for geese, ducks and chickens that will provide them a predator-safe
environment. We do not adopt feathered friends to open ponds because of the high risk involved of having them attacked by predators such as coyotes, raccoons, mink and other wildlife. All ponds must be protected by safe and secure fencing. A barn or other safe shelter must be provided for the geese as well as a large, outdoor exercise area. And as always, the feathered friends must be adopted as part of your family and cannot be killed or slaughtered for food.

Who Is Available?

GEESE

• Two White Domestic Male Geese — Best friends, and are seeking a home where they can stay together. They believe they are quite handsome, and if given the opportunity, would wear large gold chains around their necks. The would be a beautiful addition to any barnyard and are fun to watch! Adoption Fee: $15 for the pair

• Family Of Four Geese — Two males and two females. Three are gray Toulouse geese, one gray is a curly-feathered goose, and the smaller white female is a curly-feathered mix also. They truly adore each other, and we wouldn't dream of separating them. They arrived at Happy Trails as a family, and we are hoping that they will indeed find a home where they can continue to enjoy life as a family. They are very bonded to each other and find comfort in their friendships. Adoption Fee: $30 for the group of 4

DUCKS

• Downy Jr. — A very sweet white Pekin male, not aggressive in any way. He had been abandoned this past winter and was discovered in the middle of a busy road. A good samaritan saved him from being hit by a car, and he found his way to Happy Trails. He would like a quiet home where he can be with other calm and friendly ducks. Adoption Fee: $8

• Two Male Ducks — These guys are two peas in a pod! A white Pekin and a mixed-breed crested variety are best friends, and won't go anywhere without each other. They can't be out of each other's sight! They are both very handsome and the mixed-breed guy is extremely colorful. Adoption Fee: $12 for the pair

• Two Special Needs Pekins — Two white female ducks who are special needs. The vet report should be back today on how to give them the care they need, so if you have a heart of gold and room for two very sweet ducks who like to quack really loud, here's your opportunity to help! Adoption Fee: Waived to the right home

• More Rescued Ducks Coming In Today — descriptions to come, so watch for details!

CHICKENS

• Brown Hens — 8 little girls are happily
running around the sanctuary, scratching up all of our flower beds. Yay. Many are still think (they had arrived suffering from malnutrition), but they are recovering very nicely and are funny as all get-out to watch. Their interests include taking sun baths and dirt baths, pecking at treasures in the grass that only chickens know about, and taking naps sitting next to the pigs, goats and sheep. Adoption Fee: $3 per hen

• Roosters — And lots of them!
We have every color of rooster under the sun (unfortunately), and not enough homes to go around. There is a pair of tiny and very cute little white roosters who would like to find a home together - they are truly buds. We also have the most beautifully colored roosters ever - many of who are very friendly with people and enjoy being held and pet. Your pick of 16 roosters, and of course, they need a safe environment and approved shelter and fencing. Adoption Fee: $3 per rooster

• Pair Of White Broilers — What a horrible name for a breed of chicken, but sadly that is what they are called. A cute little couple, a male and female, would like a home where they can hang out together. They are youngster, but like all broiler breeds, will eventually get rather heavy and may have some health issues as they get older, thanks to their manipulated genetic make-up. Right now they are very sweet, cute and fun to watch! The female is rather friendly and enjoy the company of people! Adoption Fee: $6 for the pair
