On November 27, 2009, Happy Trails assisted the Trumbull County sheriff's department with the removal of 11 neglected horses and other farm animal from a property in Newton Falls. Your presence in Newton Falls Court on Tuesday will show that Ohio residents will not tolerate animal cruelty in our state. Here's the details.

Breaking News -- Our Skidsteer Broke!

A critical piece of equipment at Happy Trails is our skidsteer. Our skidsteer recently broke, and the repairs are too costly in comparison to it's value. We are opting to purchase a newer skidsteer because we cannot operate the sanctuary and care for the animals without one. Here's the scoop!

I know, I know, Happy Trails doesn't take in bunnies! However, on Jan. 27th, Happy Trails assisted the Portage APL with an animal rescue involving a 20+ year old pregnant pony, a calf, and 35 bunnies. One horse was found dead at the scene. Sponsors for bunny spays/neuters are needed! Story. Sponsor a bunny. Adopt the pregnant pony or calf.

Buddy The Horse -- A Delicate Matter Indeed!

Buddy, a 19 year old Quarter horse came into the Happy Trails rescue program on Friday, January 22nd. He had a painful medical problem, one that most of us wouldn't want to have to think about. Not only did Buddy have to think about it, he had to live the experience. We are hopeful that he is now on the road to recovery!

Harold The Duck — What Can We Learn From Him?

On Tuesday, January 19th, a very sweet, white Pekin male duck was brought to Happy Trails by his rescuer. The duck had been found starving and freezing to death in the snow. This domestic duck had been dumped on an open pond. Let's have Harold's situation teach everyone why it's so important NOT to purchase cute little baby ducks and chicks for Easter.

Happy Trails assisted the sheriff's department of Noble County on Friday, Jan. 8th, to remove a group of neglected farm animals from a property in Caldwell, Ohio. Also on the side of the foothill lived a hungry, lonely buffalo. Sedona The Buffalo was safely rescued on Thursday, January 14th, thanks to the folks from The Bison Ranch in Ellsworth. Here's a very unique story!
