HORSES
SWEETTART
Sweettart, a very pretty older Palomino mare, who is sweet, gentle and very kind, received the gift of a lifetime! Many older horses are
hard to place and really have to find a caring home with caretakers who have hearts of gold. Sweettart found just that home, and set hoof (ok, hooves in her case) on her new pasture just last week.
Ed and Pat Pavlish of Wiloughby were seeking a "Pasture Pal", a friend for one of their Thoroughbred mares, and were not concerned if the new horse was able to be ridden. The had the space in their pasture and in their hearts to take in a senior citizen (and God bless them for that!), and they asked Happy Trails to help them adopt just the right horse to add to their family.
So, Sweettart is now enjoying life in the lap of luxury as a companion for an older Thoroughbred mare who was in need of a friend, and who now has formed a wonderful bond with her new mare friend. Reports tell us that the two ladies are getting along simply wonderfully, and are beginning their summer together by getting to know each other and comparing stories of what their lives were like in their younger years, in addition to eating grass, napping, eating more grass, and watching the birds.
Happy Trails is very thankful for people like Ed and Pat who consider adopting a rescued animal.
KAI
Happy Trails is truly blessed with our extensive network of people who work together Ten year old Quarter horse mare, Kai, was rescued by Happy Trails last May during the big Sugarcreek rescue when we saved 25 horses that were
destined for the meat trucks. She was pregnant at the time, and very underweight. Since last May, Kai gained weight, had a very healthy baby boy, had him weaned, went through professional riding training, and is now heading to a fellow horse rescue organization in Pennsylvania.
It is extremely important that we all work together for the good of the animals, and working closely together with other rescue groups is something that we encourage for all rescue organizations.
Kai will be leaving Happy Trails to journey to her new rescue organization soon, and will now be adopted out through Linda Paolucci's Heart Therapeutic Riding and Equine Rescue in Transfer, Pennsylvania. Linda has a top-notch facility and we are honored to be working with such caring folks!
To support Linda and to thank Heart Therapeutic Riding Facility for helping Happy Trails out by taking on one of our rescued horses that is ready for adoption, check out their
website at www.hearttherapeuticriding.com. Your kind donation to Heart Therapeutic Riding Facility can be sent to 139 South Maysville Rd., Transfer PA 16154, or you can donate to them on-line. You may also wish to send them a nice email at lpaolucci@adelphia.net to help us thank
them. Other rescue groups who help us to adopt horses out of state are invaluable to us, and we appreciate the networking opportunity!
Many thanks, Linda!
FEATHERED FRIENDS
Six little brown hens who arrived at Happy Trails emaciated and suffering from malnutrition, just left the sanctuary on Sunday for Rome, Ohio. The now get to enjoy a new,
safe and never-hungry again life with Mary Beth DeLisle, her husband, and their kids, who are being brought up to respect and show care for all animals. These little feathered friends were hoping to stay together as a group, and now they get their wish! Happily cooing, they were placed in the pet porter and made comfortable in their van for the hour-long ride home. A small dish of water provided them with refreshments just incase.
Two BFF (best friends forever) ducks, two males named Swayzee and Downy Junior, were chosen to be adopted along with the girls! These two buddies are complete opposites as far as ducks go. Swayzee, a small brownish/gray guy with a darker brownish/black head, is outgoing, hyper, energetic and bossy with other animals
(except for Downy Junior). Downy Junior is a chubby white Pekin duck who is calmer, happy, doesn't mind people very much, and for some unknown reason, is simply and incredibly bonded with Sawyzee, a duck friend who he met recently at Happy Trails. The two hit it off one day and have become inseperable ever since. They will have their very own swimming pool and a predator-safe yard to hand out in with their chicken friends.
Many thanks to the DeLisle family for bringing compassion and rescued animals into your home!
And many thanks to everyone who adopts a rescued animal!!!
