WARNING: These photos are graphic. Sadly they depict a very realistic and obvious picture of the animal cruelty involved in this case. Click here for photos.
Please know that all horses are currently under veterinary care and being cared for round-the-clock to monitor them for colic as their systems begin to get used to having proper nutrition.
We'd like to thank the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department for calling animal abuse "animal abuse", and for not turning a blind eye to the starving horses involved in this sad and disturbing case.
The cruelty calls received at Happy Trails tend to involve mutiple animals. Receiving 11 horses all at once can be quite an overwhelming prospect for any rescue group. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible. Donations of hay and straw are very much appreciated. Monetary donations marked "Newton Falls Horse Rescue" can be sent to:
Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary, Inc.
5623 New Milford Road, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
As all court cases go, we will keep everyone posted as to the extent we are permitted.
Thank you for your concern, for your prayers for the horses, and for helping to acknowledge and elminate animal abuse in our Ohio counties.
